Week 8, Term 2

This week in  Renwick 3 we have been learning to insert a picture using Clip Art. We had been reading a big book about Greedy Cat so we found some pictures that might look like him!

Next week we will be starting milk in schools. Some senior children came to show us how to open the milk and how to fold the carton for recycling when we are done. We think this might take quite a bit of practise!!

Next week....

Our sounds will be 'o' and 'st'. Our tricky words will be no/some.
Duriing maths we will be looking at measurement.
Please remember that this Friday is a Teacher Only day.
Have a happy and safe week!

Week 6, Term 2

What a fabulous week we have had at school! We celebrated Matariki throughout the week and on Friday we had a hangi. It was cooked to perfection and simply delicious. A huge thank you to all those who contributed to make this such a memorable day. We all gathered on the back field at 12noon for waiata and to watch the hangi being pulled up.

On Monday we had Matariki rotations around the Kowhai syndicate. In Dianne's class we sang with the rakau sticks, in Lynley's class we wove baskets , in Tracy's class we painted and in our class we dramatized a Maori legend. We had so much fun we hope to do it again someday soon.

This week had some fun with the last of the autumn leaves. We went on a hunt in the front field to get some leaves for making prints. Some of us thought they would make great elephants ears too!

Next week....
During literacy we will be looking at the short a sounds.
Our tricky words will be by/goes.
During maths we will be focusing on simple addition and subtraction.
On Monday we begin our Mataarki celebrations. We will be having a rotation in the Kowhai Syndicate including art, dance, drama and games.
On Friday we will have our school wide Hangi. Tickets are on sale outside the library before school at a cost of $9.
Have a happy and safe week!

Week 4, Term 2 2013

Every Friday we have our Kowhai Assembly. This is a time we get together and celebrate our week with songs, news, birthdays, welcoming new friends and presentation of certificates. Dianne was teaching us a new song this week.

This week we were practising the formation of the letter 'a' on our whiteboards. We say to ourselves "open mouth, close it up, short stick!"
We even sat them on the line!

Next week...
Our sound will be 'er' and our tricky words are all & her.
During maths we will be skip counting in tens forwards and backwards.
On Friday is our Cross Country Race. We will be running two laps of the front field. The Kowhai Syndicate usually go out to the front field after the Year 3/4's have raced, which is usually after 2pm. This is to avoid us sitting and waiting too long before our race.
Have a happy and safe week!
